Received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics teaching in Washington D.C. from President George W. Bush in 2002.

Hobbies: mountain biking; reading; scrap-booking want-to-be (I’ve only done two, but I really enjoyed it)

What do you do for fun? Mountain bike, read, watch movies, go to coffee with girlfriends

Travels: Traveled to major cities all over the U.S. for various education conferences; taught English at a university in China; traveled to India.

Favorite Book: Wisdom Hunter (I mostly read fiction – especially historical fiction) – favorite authors are Ted Dekker, Bodie Thoene, Michael Crichton, and John Grisham

Places you’d like to visit: The pyramids in Egypt, the mountains in New Zealand, the beaches in Greece, and the outback in Australia are my top choices. I would also like to bike/ride a train through Europe for a few months. I’d also like to spend an autumn driving through the New England states.

I went to college on a music scholarship; I ran track at the State track meet in high school; I danced on my college pom line; I love working with children at high-poverty schools.
